About the event
The Intermediate Navigation course is perfect if you have some experience of navigating but want to learn advanced compass skills to get off the beaten track.
This course will give you a fantastic day out on the moors and give you the confidence to take your adventures into open moorland terrain.
Course Content
The course will be a relaxed guided walk around the Dartmoor, Postbridge area covering various terrain associated with Dartmoor.Â
During this time we can look at more advance areas of navigation you wish to practice and improve. Below is a few aspects you can expect to cover:
- Planning a route in more detail.Â
- Taking magnetic bearings.
- Advance use of a compass.
- Attack bearings & aiming off.
- Boxing round features.
- Basic & advanced relocation. Â
- Use of timing and pacing.
- Navigating using a GPS.
Experience Required
Basic use of a compass and following tracks or have attended a Basic Navigation Course.
