The Basic Navigation Course is the perfect course to take you from following friends, known routes or guidebooks to independently planning and following simple walks.

This course teaches you basic map & compass skills and gives you a great day out on the moors.

Course Content

The course will be a relaxed guided walk around the Dartmoor, Princetown area covering various terrain associated with Dartmoor. 

We will cover the following aspects:

• Map scale, Symbols & Contours. 
• Basic use of a compass. 
• Planning a route.
• Skills for poor visibility navigation. 
• Relocation should it all go wrong. 
• Using a smartphone & GPS

No previous experience is required.
